Pictured here is a crowd of unidentified young men standing at a bar with bartender behind them. In the background is a sign that reads, “No credit given here.” Note the spittoons on the floor and the man wearing sheepskin chaps. The photograph was taken at about 5:00 pm on a summer day in Aspen between 1890 and 1900.

A large crowd gathers at the Colorado Midland Depot sometime between 1914 and 1918 to send off some of Aspen’s finest to go represent the United States in World War I. A caption with the photograph reads, “Crowd at depot for the departure of Aspen’s first contingent.”
